UNH cops have been taking a lot of heat around campus and here on this blog lately, and I am not sure if it is all justified. When you break it down they are just doing what they are told to do. Don't get me wrong, there are way too many cops on campus and they really do suck... but...
I was at the homecoming football game this past weekend and from the student section I saw a cop take what looked to be a Motts Grape Juice bottle from a young lady and sniff it. I thought, "Oh, shit" to myself because I figured this girl was getting arrested. But no!
The cop took the girl to the side of the student section and talk to her for a few seconds. He threw away the bottle and let the girl go back to her friends.
I know what you're thinking, a UNH cop didn't arrest someone when it was actually legal to. What the fuck is going on? Even if this girl was 21 (she didn't look it) she still had alcohol in an alcohol free zone and an open container. Two things that UNH students get arrested for every weekend.
I applaud this cop for doing the right thing. He could obviously tell this is girl was in a safe state and that an arrest was unnecessary. Luckily this girl encountered the one cop on campus who wasn't on a power trip or 'roid rage. For once a UNH student won, usually it is the other way around... come on those link were perfect and actually relevant!
In all seriousness watch this 42 second video and you might better understand police:
Awesome.
Stay classy, not UMassy.
hmm, usually a unh cop would have that chick on the ground in cuffs, she got lucky...
ReplyDeleteand i love when the kid pulls out that uzi
Yeah cops also don't like Delonte West, because he hides his handguns in his waistband and shotgun in his guitar case, which incidentally is slung over his back while he rides his motorcycle irradically, infront of the police.
ReplyDeleteWhile I'd really like to believe that the cop was being a nice guy, I'm going to have to say he let the girl go because she was hot.
ReplyDeleteThe UNH cops are total sleaze bags. I worked with them once for a UNH event. They spent the whole time making comments about the (19 year old) Red Bull model. They've got to be in their 30's or 40's. They could have at least kept their comments to themselves and not said them in front of students.
lmfao to the video
ReplyDeleteThe cop let the girl go because that's 'the right thing to do?' How dumb are you? The law is the law for a reason; just because people like to drink doesn't make it right. That's like saying murder is illegal (which it is) but if most people like doing it, then go ahead. If the cop let her go he probably had a reason, but arresting someone (if she's underage) is what a cop is supposed to do. You just sound like a baby who hasn't grown up yet and likes to live in pretend land...
ReplyDeleteNo, I said he probably let her go because she was in a safe state. Meaning that she obviously wasn't drunk. He probably thought it would have been a waste of time of the both of them to go through the booking process if she wasn't even drunk. I have nothing against cops arresting drunk kids, but it is when they are in a non-drunk or barely buzzed state that angers me (which does happen a lot here). I wrote it was "The right thing to do" because she wasn't drunk, or being a danger to herself or others. If she was those things then I wouldn't complain about her getting booked in the first place.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the other Anonymous. You sound like an immature tool for saying, "The cop did the right thing." Only someone who drinks underage would say that. She still should have been arrested. Not being drunk is absolutely no reason to get away with breaking the law.
ReplyDelete"The right thing to do" haha! The only right thing to do according to the damn hippies around here is "cut them a break, because they are just buzzed". BULL. You do something illegal, you pay for it. END OF STORY.
